Michigan-Made Kombucha You Need to Try
| 1 min read
The words often used to describe kombucha—tart, fizzy and “vinegar-y”—might not necessarily entice you to give it a try, but the health benefits should. Kombucha is fermented, which means it contains probiotics—a collection of “good” bacteria that promotes a healthy gut, improves issues with digestion and strengthens your immune system. While this health beverage originated in China thousands of years ago, you can find it made a lot closer to home. Check out these Michigan companies who make their own kombucha:
- Detroit Kombucha Brewing Company (Detroit): Detroit Kombucha offers seasonal blends and flavors, such as Cadillac Gold (cinnamon, clove and ginger), The Big Three (lemon, orange and ginger) and Dequindre Cut (flavored after hometown-favorite Vernors pop).
- Neu Kombucha (Farmington): Neu Kombucha teas are packed with healthy nutrients like probiotics and vitamins B and C. They come in a variety of flavors, including pineapple, lavender lemonade and root beer.
- Unity Vibration Specialty Beer and Tea (Ypsilanti): In addition to teas, this spot also makes kombucha beer with flavors like ginger, raspberry and peach. Even their teas are slightly alcoholic, so they’re only available to people over the age of 21.
- Cultured Ferments (Traverse City): Using all-organic ingredients, Cultured Ferments kombucha teas are delicious on their own, but they are also delicious in smoothies and cocktails.
