Want to lose weight, have more energy and ward off heart disease and cancer? Start drinking more tea! Tea is packed with the right compounds and properties that help your body achieve these feats.
How to know what sips to slip into your diet
Here’s a quick synopsis of popular types of teas, their healing powers and why you should incorporate this healthy beverage into your daily routine:
- Need a little burst of energy? Looking to naturally boost your metabolism? Start guzzling green tea. It contains caffeine, which jump-starts your metabolism, and is full of antioxidants, which improve your cholesterol levels and reduces your risk of stroke and neurological disorders.
- If you are one of the many Americans who is addicted to caffeine, you may want to swap your java for black tea. Of the tea gamut, black tea boasts the highest amount of caffeine, and makes up the foundation of the popular chai tea. Besides giving you that extra kick, it’s beneficial for your respiratory and cardiovascular systems.
- The midway blend between green and black tea is oolong tea, which is celebrated for busting bad cholesterol levels.
- Looking to ward off malignant maladies like cancer? Who isn’t? The most potent anticancer properties are found in white tea. This brew contains the least amount of caffeine in the tea spectrum.
