In the office, pain can attack at any time. While many people seek the help of pain pills, there are more holistic ways to deal with discomfort. Over the counter pain relievers simply suppress symptoms like back and headaches; this list of options offers natural forms of relief that can be just as effective as pain pills.
Get Nutty
Instead of taking pills when you’re faced with a head ache, try eating a few almonds. Salicin is an anti-inflammatory agent that is produced by the Willow bark. This agent is also found in over the counter pain killers like aspirin. In addition, almonds contain a high level of magnesium. Magnesium is known to relax muscles and minimize nerve edginess, this reduces stress and anxiety headaches.
Remember your core
The muscles in your abs and back play a huge role in supporting the lower part of the spine. Typically, these muscles don’t get a substantial workout. It is important to workout your core for 10-30 minutes a day to fight against soft tissue injuries and other forms of back pain.
Try yoga
Yoga uses fluid movements and meditation to fight pain. These movements allow joints to smoothly run over each other, improving durability, without damaging your body.
Watch your posture
When dealing with neck pain, it is important to watch the set-up of your desk area. When looking at your desk, you should:
- Make sure your eyes are focused on the top third of your computer screen. Tilting your neck up or down for an extended period of time can cause uncomfortable stiffness.
- Move your entire body rather than snapping your neck back and forth. Rotating your head too much can aggravate joints that result in both neck and back pain.
- Take a break to stretch and walk after sitting for long periods of time, this will help loosen your muscles and ease stiffness.
