A neighborhood mural made its debut October 22 near Potter Park Zoo in Lansing. The new mural, named #Penn4People, is a part of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP)’s Engage Placemaking Pilot Program.
The community was invited to grab a brush and assist local artists Tracie Davis and Diane Harte in painting. Sixth grade students from the Mount Hope STEAM School were invited to put finishing touches on the mural.
(LEAP) is a coalition of area leaders committed to building a prosperous and vibrant region where businesses can thrive. To do this, they help entrepreneurs start new businesses, help existing businesses grow, and attract new businesses to the region.

The goal of the pilot program, ENGAGE, is to partner with residents and leaders to identify areas in communities for new placemaking projects. This will be the third project completed by LEAP this year. #Penn4People was made possible from the partnerships with the City of Lansing, Greater Lansing Regional Prosperity Initiative, Mt. Hope STEAM School, Potter Park Zoo, the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission and Tiny By Design. Prior to #Penn4People, LEAP completed the following projects: Keys in the Cities in Charlotte and Sign Language installed along the Lansing River Trail.
