Located in the middle of the Michigan mitten, Mt. Pleasant is home to Soaring Eagle Casino and Central Michigan University.
If you are visiting Mt. Pleasant, there’s plenty to do. Here’s our tip five:
This 591-acre park has 8 miles of trails perfect for hiking and biking, with some of the trails running alongside the Chippewa River. You'll find four bridges in the park, include two swinging bridges.
In the winter, bring your whole family to the sledding hill or get exercise on cross-country ski trails.
For those who like disc golf, the park offers two 18-hole courses.
Campers can enjoy a rustic trip to Deerfield Nature Park, which has 10 sites and water available.
Created by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe in 2004, the center enlightens and educates all communities about the rich culture, heritage and history of the Anishinabek people of the Great Lakes. The Anishinabek people have lived in the area for nearly 1,000 years.
The different exhibits show the history of the people and the land, including traditional plants, art and artifacts.
CMU offers a scenic campus to visit. You can see the oldest part of campus, North Campus, which the university established in 1918. It was then called "Central Michigan Normal School," before being renamed in 1959.
The 235-acre campus has paved paths, ponds and fountains to enjoy. You can learn about the history of the campus and the area at Park Library or check out a game or meet by one of the CMU Division 1 athletic teams.
This family-owned and operated 3,000-acre organic farm with fruit orchards, tulips, sunflowers, industrial hemp, soybeans, grapes and honeybees.
May is the perfect time for spring photos in the farm’s tulip field.

The Chippewa River

If you are interested in canoeing or kayaking the pristine Chippewa River, Chippewa River Outfitters has a wide selection of canoes, kayaks and tubes to rent.
You can also enjoy the river on the paved, 2-mile GKB Riverwalk Trail, which connects five different parks through the city.
In Mt. Pleasant, don't forget to check out the historic downtown for small businesses and local restaurants. Whether you are visiting Mt. Pleasant for a day or longer, there are many ways to have fun.
