It was summer and he was washing my car in the driveway. A relatively healthy guy, my husband has no chronic health problems, exercises regularly, watches what he eats and has an enviable BMI. So when he came into the house that sunny afternoon, telling me he didn’t feel well, I couldn’t help but worry.
As it was a Sunday afternoon, we couldn’t call his doctors office. I became fearful as I felt as though I had nowhere to turn. Sure, I could’ve Googled his symptoms, but I’ve done my fair share of self-diagnosing over the years and the results of my online symptom searching only seem to leave me more confused, and more scared.
I can’t tell you how badly I wished I could’ve asked a health care professional right then and there, at that very moment, for their advice as there’s nothing more important and reassuring than getting the right care at the right time.
Situations like this are just one reason why Blue Care Network is happy to announce our new Nurse Advice Line. Now, all Blue Care Network members can now connect with a health care professional, any time, any day, by calling 1-855-624-5214.
Yes, it’s that simple.
This free and confidential service can help members determine appropriate next steps while providing greater peace of mind. And, calls don’t have to be prompted by an emergency, or what we think is an emergency. Whether members have a question about a cold or a chronic condition, our nurses are armed with answers every minute of the day.
In this particular situation involving my husband, if I would’ve had access to a Nurse Advice Line, I would’ve called them immediately. Thankfully, my husband was ok, but I wasn’t when the medical bills started rolling in. This entire experience proved that going to the emergency room when not necessary can be a very costly experience.
So, if you’re a BCN member and have a health question, know that we have answers. Call the new BCN Nurse Advice Line at 1-855-624-5214 today!
