Veteran’s Day: Michigan Events, Ceremonies and Celebrations in 2024

More than 550,000 veterans of the United States Armed Forces call Michigan their home. Across the state, many cities, towns and municipalities will celebrate Veteran’s Day with parades, fairs, races and more.
The holiday is Monday, Nov. 11, but there are celebrations in honor of the day throughout the first two weeks of the month. Learn more about some of the Veteran’s Day events in Michigan:
Novi is hosting a Veteran’s Day celebration with musical performances and a lunch. Everyone is welcome, but there is a cost for non-veterans: $10 for Novi residents and $12 for non-residents. Registration for the event is open until Monday, Nov. 4.
When: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Nov. 7
Where: Novi Civic Center, 4 5175 W 10 Mile Rd, Novi
This year, Oceana County is hosting a Veteran’s Day celebration including a parade, 5K, expo and burger day in Shelby. Show up early on in the day on Saturday, Nov. 9 for a 5K and stay for the parade and veteran’s expo.

The American Legion in Mason will host a Veteran’s Day parade on Nov. 9.
When: 3 p.m. Nov. 9
Where: The American Legion Browne-Cavender Post 148, 840 E. Columbia St., Mason
Starting in Corktown in Detroit, the annual Detroit Veteran’s Day Parade and related festivities begin at 9:45 a.m. before Veteran’s Day, Sunday, Nov. 10. Veterans, active military and civilians are all welcome. There is also a mile race.

This Veteran’s Day ceremony will feature live patriotic music, speeches and prayer at the Veteran’s Memorial in Shelby Township.

This year, Petoskey is offering a free Veteran’s Day breakfast for all veterans. There will be resources and service tables for veterans, guest speakers and a gift for all attendees.
When: 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Nov. 11
Where: Odawa Casino, Ovation Hall, 1760 Lears Road, Petoskey
The University of Michigan will host Veteran’s Week celebrations from Nov. 11to Friday, Nov. 15. There is a full week of programming scheduled to recognize and honor veterans, including a military appreciation lunch, job hunting help for veterans, seminars on post-traumatic stress disorder, LGBTQ+ military members, diversity, equity and inclusion in the military and women in the military.
