Ring in the New Year at Michigan state parks for Shoe Year’s Day

This New Year’s Day, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is partnering with the Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan Recreation and Park Association to encourage Michigan residents to start their New Years’ resolutions early. State parks and recreation areas around the state are hosting Shoe Year’s Day on Wednesday January 1, 2014.
Most of the events take place on New Year’s day and a few take place the following weekend. The events are listed here. There will be snowshoeing and hiking at each park, some parks have snowshoes available to rent. The event is free, but every vehicle is required to have a recreation passport when entering a state park.
